Carol Ann Newman passed away peacefully April 27, 2021 at her home in Broken Arrow in the presence of her loving family. She was 74 years old. The family will soon announce plans to celebrate her life near her home on Grand Lake.
Born October 2, 1946 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Carol was the daughter of Jerry and Dorothy (Murray) Sims. She attended Catholic school and loved to play tennis while she was growing up.
Known to be a wonderful caretaker to her friends and family her entire life. Carol spent most of her working life as an EMT, certified nursing assistant and caregiver. She also managed the Tasty-Freeze in Claremore while living in Rogers County. Carol spent most of her life living near the Grand Lake O' the Cherokees.
Carol married Richard Newman October 19, 1973. They spent 48 wonderful years together while living the lake life, boating, canoeing the local rivers, rafting in the Carolinas and attending multiple NASCAR races from Texas to Florida. Richard’s career relocated them to Florida, Georgia and North Carolina for a time while enjoying the RVing life. Carol always had a green thumb, spending countless hours in her garden. She will not soon be forgotten by a host of family and friends who loved her dearly.
Surviving family members include her husband, Richard Newman; her five children, Jerry Beeson, Michelle Barto, Natalie Vath, Randy(Scarff) Newman and Shawn Newman and his wife, Kendall; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; her brother, Robert F. Duke and wife, Judy of Midland TX and countless nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy; father, Franklin B. Duke; grandson, Ricky and granddaughter, Kelsie Beeson; and her sister, Mary L. Duke Walker.
