Services honoring Jon Bradley “Brad” Summers will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Timothy Baptist Church in Muskogee. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 9:30 AM prior to the funeral ceremony. Brad passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his home in Muskogee.
Born August 31, 1960, also in Muskogee, Brad was the son of Curtis Auman and Betty Jean (Horner) Summers. His father’s Kirby Vacuum Cleaner business moved the family to Brockton, Massachusetts, Warrick, Rhode Island and eventually back to Muskogee in 1973. He graduated from Muskogee High School with the Class of 1979.
Brad loved the Oklahoma Sooners, making countless trips to their football games through the years. He and his son, Cam’Ron always looked forward to gamedays together. They were best friends and Saturdays were always a party for those two! Brad also enjoyed car racing and speed, both on and off the track. He recently purchased a bright red Honda Gold Wing that he loved taking on the open road. Brad was also fascinated with the game of Chess.
While working for the railroad as a conductor, Brad once stopped a train in order to save a man’s life. He received a plaque honoring his heroic act of kindness!
Brad was also a terrific cook for his friends and family. Steaks and breakfast sandwiches were his specialties. Brad was humble, gracious, and always had a love for life. He truly never worried about anything! According to Brad, “Worrying was a waste of time.” A man of God, Brad prayed continually and at the time of his passing, he knew that he was at peace with the Lord.
Surviving family members include his children, Bryce Minor and Cam’Ron Summers; his grandchildren, Stevie, Jenson, and Gracie Minor; his brother, Curt Summers and wife, Edna; and the mother of his children, Paula Summers.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents.
