Billy Allen Obituary

Billy Berna (Bill) Allen of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at Ascension St. John’s on August 16, 2021 at the age of 88.

Bill was born to George Monroe Allen and Lillie Allen on November 21, 1932, in Archer City, Texas. He was the 7th of 8 children and raised in a very warm and loving family. As a young boy, his family moved to Bangs, Texas where he grew up and graduated from Bangs High School. He attended Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas on a track scholarship. One of his many accomplishments was being part of a relay team that placed first at The Drake Relays track meet against competition from much larger universities.

Bill served in the Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and it was there that he met the love of his life, Ramona Heifner. They were married on August 31st, 1957 and moved to Electra, Texas. They moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1958 where their two children were born. Bill began his career at what was then Standard Oil of Indiana which later became Amoco. He was transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1966, where he retired after more than 35 years with the company. Bill and Ramona enjoyed traveling and spending time with their beloved grandkids.

Bill enjoyed fishing, bowling, watching his grandsons play sports and taking family vacations across the country. He was a Boy Scout leader who took his troop to Philmont Scout Ranch. Bill loved working on computer projects and could often be found at his computer helping others. But most of all, he loved his family, both near and far. He made efforts to keep in touch with his extended family. His sense of humor was a trait that everyone remembers about him.

Bill and family belonged to Memorial Baptist Church for almost 30 years where he taught Sunday School, served as an usher and was involved with his Sunday School class. He later became a member at South Tulsa Baptist Church where he served as an usher and was very active in his Sunday School class, the Kingdom Builders.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George Monroe Allen and Lillie Allen, and three sisters Mattie, Mildred and Coleta and three brothers, Glenn, Raymond and Winston.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Ramona Allen, son Brad Allen of Broken Arrow, daughter Rebecca Dozier (Mark Jones) of Broken Arrow, grandsons Andrew Dozier (Jodi) of Norman, Oklahoma, Matthew Dozier (Savannah) of Odessa, Texas, Jeremy Dozier (Maddie) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Aaron Allen (Maggie) of Edmond, Oklahoma, as well as great-grandchildren, Xavier Dozier, Charlie Dozier, Quinn Allen, Greyson Allen, Emily Dozier and Olivia Dozier. He is survived by one sister, Wanda Prince of Austin, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
