Obituary

Ann was born May 8, 1932, in Spavinaw, Oklahoma to John William Elward Husong and Ruth Ellen (Lamont) Husong. Raised in Little Kansas, Oklahoma, Ann was the eldest of thirteen children. Independent at an early age, Ann left home and moved to Tulsa with an Aunt and Uncle, working as a babysitter.
Later, she went to work at Pennington's Drive-In. While waitressing there, she met Grant Percy "Buddy" Clay. They married and she became the stepmother to 7 children. They had two sons of their own, Buddy Leon and Dwayne Allen making their family complete with 9 children.
Later in life, she worked as a caregiver at Bixby Nursing Home and eventually was a private caregiver for many. She was passionate about helping others and continued throughout her later years helping anyone in need whether it was cooking, cleaning, or sitting with elderly friends.
Ann always enjoyed going to her siblings' homes to play games and spending time with her boys and grandchildren. She also enjoyed working puzzles, reading, and cooking. For the past five years, Ann had been a resident at Autumn Park, in Bixby, where she loved visiting with the numerous friends she made there. She was blessed to have a special friendship with her Sister- in- law, Helen, who made sure she got to go to places she wanted and needed to go.
If you went to visit her, you would find her working a puzzle in the puzzle room or watching Gunsmoke or a Western movie on TV. She loved getting to watch her grandson, Jake, rope on The Cowboy Channel regularly.
You never talked to her on the phone without her saying "I love you and God Bless You" before she said good bye.
Ann passed from this life peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 just one day after her 91st birthday.
She will be missed by many.
She is survived by: her sons: Buddy Leon Clay and Dwayne Clay and wife, Julana; stepchildren: Patricia Helm, William Clay, Franky Clay, Carl Clay and Laura Smith. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great- grandchildren and by her siblings: Blanche, Isabelle, Bertha, Johnnie, Yvonne, Jimmy, Linda, Glenda, and William and their families.
She was preceded in death by: her parents John and Ruth Husong, her former husband and father of her two sons, Grant "Buddy" Clay, step-children: Jimmy Leon Clay and Linda Caywood; siblings: Raymond, Arvel, and Bonnie Husong, 1 granddaughter, Vinita Jo and 1 great grandson, Justin Ray Clay.
