Services to honor and remember the life of David Leroy Bell will be 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in the RiverCrest Chapel, Bixby.
Born November 11, 1949, in Bixby, Oklahoma, David was one of six children of Harry Luther and Vilcia Lorene (Lattie) Bell. Raised in the Bixby area, David received his education locally before spending a brief time in the Service. Upon returning home, he married Joy Gail Butler, on June 10, 1968, and together, this couple would welcome four children: David, Tina, Patricia, and Laura.
As a career, David would work alongside his brother, Delbert, as an electrician. Together, they owned Bell’s Electric and provided great service to the surrounding area. In latter years, David worked on repairing and re-selling televisions. As it turned out, there was not much that this man couldn’t fix! In fact, this “Jack of all Trades” could accomplish most of the mechanical, paint and body, and carpentry work that he set his mind to.
In his spare time, David enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar, and drinking adult beverages. Most days would find David outside on his porch swing drinking his coffee and watching passersby’s. And he certainly would not let an opportunity to fuss at his neighbors pass him by.
David was very hard-headed and, at the same time, could be very sweet. He would often tell Joy when she would say, that a piece of jewelry was pretty “that it was not as pretty as her”. David led his life being very dedicated to Joy. The two were inseparable, as you didn’t see one without the other!
Described as ornery and funny, David was a storyteller and Joy’s ‘partner in crime’ as she described him.
David passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019, in Tulsa. He was 70.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joy Bell of the home; two daughters: Patricia Davis (Ed) and Laura Ashby (Matt); brothers: Albert and Delbert Bell (Martha); sisters: Velma Lawson (Garland) and Genieva Rodgers (Willie); grandchildren: Brittany Soldier, Johnny McDonald, Jr., Jared Devaill, Jason Devaill, Timothy Davidson, and Travis Davidson. He is also survived by a number of great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Harold and Kenneth Bell and two children: David Bell and Tina Grist.
