There are rarely times when I am speechless. Yet, sadly this is one of those times. David and I became friends and close buddies since 1st grade. There was hardly a time we werent together while growing up. The Retheford family was my 2nd home. They taught me how to ski and fish at Bernice on Grand Lake. You name it..we made an adventure out of it. We were in the USAF at the same time and would visit each others bases. Yes, even in New Hampshire. David and I were each others best man at our weddings. I always told David, when I die, he will be my only pallbearer. He will be the only one to carry my casket.I have so many more memories of our crazy times together.You have know idea what your friendship has meant to me over the years. I love you and miss you brother! Till we meet again.
David and I were engaged 8 years ago, when our engagement ended...a beautiful friendship remained . He was always so kind to me, asking about my family and always, always making me laugh. We met up for lunches, dinners, happy hours, phone calls, texts...we kept in touch and I'm so glad we did. Dave was for sure the life of the party and he loved big, with his whole heart. His love for his daughters and grandchildren was so HUGE, they were the light of his life! I am deeply saddened by his passing and I can't wait for one of his hugs when we meet again. Love you always Dave...RIP my friend.
